WHALASA is here to support you during the application process to the Wharton MBA Program - here is what is available for you:

1. Learning more about Wharton – Visits and Coffee Chats

Visiting Wharton
Fit is an important part of the choice for an MBA. WHALASA strongly encourages prospective students to visit Wharton and take advantage of all the events created by the Admissions Office for visitors: Information Sessions, Visiting a Class, Having Lunch with Students, Campus Tour, and the MBA Pub Happy Hour. Visiting Wharton will allow you to experience everything our program has to offer.

MBA Admissions & WHALASA International Coffee Chats
WHALASA members frequently host International Coffee Chats during Winter Break (December – January) or Spring Break (March), in various locations across the world, along with the MBA Admissions Office.

2. Applying to Wharton – Whalasa Mentorship program

Once you have decided you want to apply to Wharton, and if you are a Latin American either living in Latin America or in the US, WHALASA provides you with an Application Mentor who can give you advice on your application.
  • Our Application Mentors are First and Second Year students volunteer members of WHALASA that have been in your shoes
  • Application Mentors will comment on two essays: Essay number 1 (compulsory) and 1 other essay chosen by the candidate. Also send your resumé
  • Deadlines: up to 2 weeks before the deadline for each round.

3. Being Admitted to Wharton – Welcome Weekend and the Whalasa Buddy Program

Wharton Winter & Spring Welcome Weekend
During both the Winter Welcome Weekend (February) and the Spring Welcome Weekend (April), admitted students are invited to visit and experience Wharton at its best. WHALASA typically hosts events to gather first and second year WHALASA members with admitted students. These events offer admitted students the opportunity to learn more about their experiences in Philadelphia, as well as their reasons for coming to Wharton... Accommodation by WHALASA members can be usually provided when needed.
Buddy Program
A a warm and embracing start to the incoming first years, this program is a fantastic opportunity to bond with volunteering First and Second Years. Right after receiving their admission decision, each Latin American admitted student is paired with a First or Second Year WHALASA Buddy who supports him in his decision to choose Wharton and in his preparation to come to Philadelphia.

4. Being part of WHALASA at Wharton

WHALASA offers exciting leadership opportunities to First Year students a couple of months into the program, including Markting, Admissions, Cultural, Careers, etc. While at Wharton, help shape the future of WHALASA!

5. WHALASA’s Partner Club: The PhillyMamas

WHALASA member’s significant others actively organize events for partners with or without children. They meet regularly to share experiences and tips about living in Philly as well as to host social events for. They also offer support for job possibilities, housing, shopping, nursery, etc.;
